We had two major encounters with the elephants during our stay, the first was a family of them that passed right by the trucks, stopping for a few minutes to check us out and see if we were a source of food before heading onwards.  We got several close-ups of their skin texture, amazing detail, like ancient walking oak trees.  

The second encounter was at long distance where two young males climbed on a ridge and started going at it for about 20min.  I tried to capture them rearing up on their back legs and clashing tusks repeatedly! That's something you don't usually see at a zoo!  At least not the zoos I've been to.  The guides said it wasn't serious, that they were basically just playing, but it certainly looked like there was a winner to me, at least from the back end of a 300mm lens...
